Founded in 2013, Captain Kate Holdings started with two rental homes in Denton and grew to over a dozen rental properties in Denton, Argyle and Little Elm. Kate’s first flip house was in Trophy Club in 2000.

Kate was a software developer for 22 years; she retired from IT in 2018 to focus solely on real estate, and enjoys helping people achieve the home of their dreams.

Problems we aim to solve: Affordable Housing & Family Violence

I am a survivor of family violence; it was terrible on me and my children, even though I was fortunate to have the resources many people don’t. There are many types of abuse, so it’s crucial to identify patterns, help people set boundaries, and change patterns to help everyone behave in healthy ways.

If a person refuses to treat others with respect, we must learn to set strong boundaries to protect others, especially innocent children who didn’t ask to be born into dysfunction and deserve better.

The population of DFW was 7,573,136 according to the U.S. Census Bureau’s 2019 estimates, making it the most populous metropolitan area in both Texas and the Southern United States, the fourth-largest in the U.S. and the tenth-largest in the Americas. In 2016, the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex was first in the U.S. in year-over-year population growth.

Unfortunately, growth has been such that we have much more housing demand than supply. The median starting price for homes in the Dallas area is high relative to the median income, so we aim to fill the gap.

Our mission is to cooperate with other organizations – rather than compete – to provide as help as possible. Great local charities that we work with are Denton County Friends of the Family, Giving Grace (formerly Grace Like Rain) and Habitat for Humanity of Denton County. One Mom’s Battle is also a great resource.
